Fuel Gauge Problem...

I saw where the '05s had a fuel guage/tank problem, but this is different with my '06. Last night I parked the car with a little over 1/2 a tank. This morning, I start the car, get about a block down the road, and I get the low fuel warning sound, my gauage is on empty, and the low fuel display is saying I have 9 miles before empty. I had to park in the yard last night, and thought at first someone had siphoned my tank. But as I made a beeline for the gas station, the level began to rise. Over the next 10 minutes, the level had returned to normal, and all indicators were normal, as well.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a TSB for it? Do you have a link to said TSB that I can print and take to the dealer?

Not exactly, but I have had a similar experience. On two different occasions after filling up, my gauge still read the pre-fillup value and over time it gradually rose to the full mark. I believe I left the key partially turned on but without the engine running both times. Now I just make it a point to turn the key all the way off and haven't seen the problem again.

Over the next 10 minutes, the level had returned to normal, and all indicators were normal, as well.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I only have 600 miles on my car but experienced losing more than 1/4 tank at one time. I think it was when I hit a curve pretty hard. It went to about 1/8th tank and then slowly start to come back to about 1/2. It didn't return to normal until the next day. At first I was shocked to see how much worse this car was with gas compared to my 5.0, even when supercharged. Whooo....close one.

At least I haven't had the fill-up problem I have read about. Of course, I have only filled twice now.

yea I have had t this problem many times also. I dont really worry about it seeing it always go back to where its supposed to be in couple of minutes.

Gas Gauge Problem

Yes, I have also experienced this problem and remember reading on this very same board about it. Brought mine to the dealer and they added some Chevron fuel cleaner to the tank and printed out something from ford explaining the problem as excessive sulfur or additives in the fuel. They said to run it as close as I can to empty and by the second take of gas if the problem didn't go away to return for another round of fuel system cleaner. My problem did go away just as they stated, however I stopped buying gas from the station that I had been consistently purchasing gas from when the problem occurred (BP), and now only purchase gas from the original stations I was using for the first year or so that I owned the car. Problem has never returned, the dealer also mentioned that the problem is more common in the midwest and areas that require more additives in the gas due to temp. changes. I has the problem during the winter when it was cold outside.

Well, it happened again this morning. The kick in the butt is that by the time I could get to the dealer, the problem would have gone away. I might try switching fuel brands. (currently I am on Chevron)

I dont think changing fuel is going to help. but its worth a try.

I always reset my trip odometer and I know that i get about 215-225 miles per tank so that usually tells me if the gauge is correct or not.

Hey I have had the same thing happen, I have taken it to the dealer 3 times, the first time I got some bs and they said it was the fuel, the second time they put a new fuel sensor and new gas tank and the third time they said they cant figure out why its still doing it. I have 33,000 on it and the warrenty is running out at 36,000, should I claim the lemon law thing or just live with it? When I put gas in it takes over 2 min to go back up to the right level, am I am being to picky or should I push this issue with ford?

Put a bottle of techron in the tank, then fill it. That's what the dealers have been doing.

I did that the first time I went to the dealer, and I still have the same thing going on. I think that when you buy a new car it should not matter what gas station you go to to fill it up, I have tried every type of gas short of race fuel
