Fuel Gauge problems

In the morning or when the car is cold and i floor it, the fuel guage will drop to "E" and stay there for a while, ususally when there is a 1/4 tank or less. Anybody else have this problem??????????

yes, techron additive helps. it has been around for a while with corvettes. if it does it often, i would take it in, if it does not do it again, dont worry about it.

Im thinking it has a bad pump/sender, but it also probably electrical, because it only happens when its cold and i run it through the gears, it will read "0" miles to empty, no matter how many gallons are left

Use the techron additive. If you go to your dealer they could give your some for free through warranty. If not, don't use cheap gas with high sulfur ratings. Im sure your car doesn't like it...and now you're not.

But yeah, if you run a few tanks of the techron (chevron gas) through and it STILL does it, then yes you have an issue. But most likely its the sulfur content messing up the readings in the tanks. From what I know its from when Ford switched to the saddle bag type gas tanks and how the units measure the gas...being coated in the sulfur it gets a bad reading. So get that techron in there all nice and covered like and you SHOULD be fine.


Now thats what you have to worry about if you can actually afford gas for this thing...I sure as hell can't. Haha.

Also have this issue

I also have come across this issue with my two week old 06 GT. It does seem to happen after sitting for awhile and then being ran "vigorusly". I've been using BP gas whih is recomended on the gas cap On the third strike shes going in for service.

Try getting a new guage!

The gauge is part of the cluster assy. That probably is not the problem. Like bigcat said, try a bottle of techron.

Mine does this from time to time, but mostly when I'm turning a corner fast and only shortly after start up..
I seems like it takes a few minutes for the tank sensor to realize exactly where it's at. Also the sensor must just be more sensitive to sloshing in a near low tank.
I can't say I would worry about it much.

2 Bottles of Chevron later and 3-4 tanks of gas since and I've had no further gauge issues. I suspect it wasn't the gas I'm putting in but the gas that WAS in it when I bought the car a few weeks ago. No issue at all since the addative though.
