Fuel Guage

I'm gonna be putting in a new fuel pump soon so since I'm doing this I need to fix my fuel guage it is way off and doesn't even work some times, my question is what is needed to fix this problem, is there some sort of float?? or something in the tank to replace or could it be something else. I did a search and didnt find any solutions. Thanks

theres a float attached to a electrical sending unit probably the sending unit

Can you get these a a local parts store, I looked online and I only see sending units up to 1993. Anybody know where to get one and what type for 94-95.
