I'm new to this forum and just bought a 93 5.0.I'm thinking about switching from fuel injection to a carb. The car has the egr valve blocked off the air bypass valve blocked off most of the sensors are blocked off or missing. The car runs pretty good but will not idle right until it warms up..Car has a rebuilt short block, unknown cam, edelbrock heads, trick flow intake,24lb injectors,70mm TB,pro-m mass air.I'd like to do away w/ the computer and just put a carb on.It's not a daily driver just a toy would it be wise to fix the FI or just put a carb on it.

It sounds like the ignorance of the previous owner has left you with a less than quality machine. Bypassing the sensors can put the engine into limp mode with reduced performance.

I would recommend that you spend some time learning about the EFI system and what it can do and how to fix it. Here's a book that will get you started with how the Ford electronic engine control or "computer" works.

Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control 1988-1993 by Charles Probst :ISBN 0-8376-0301-3.

It's about $20 from Borders.com see http://www.amazon.com/ . Select boo...t as more people post fixes or ask questions.

i believe it would be wise to stick with the f/i but alot has to do with your area and drivability meaning gas mileage and passing the exhaust gas test that is required in alot of states.just my opinion here... goodluck and welcome to :SNSign:
