Fuel line help!

Hello, I have a 91 GT and I need to disconnect the fuel lines. The Haynes manual showed 2 different fuel line types, push connect and spring lock, I believe i have the spring lock connection but if someone can clear this up for me. Do I need a spring lock coupling tool, or is there another way that i can safely disconnect them. Also when pulling my engine, do I have to disconnect the clutch cable from the transmission? Yea, you need the spring lock tool. They come in diff sizes because the lines are diff sizes. Slip the propper size one on the line. Push or pull it , (which vere direction you need) and twist the line back and forth as you pull it out. Makes it easier to disconnect. Take some wd40 or the like and spray it inside the connectors to help free them up. When you put them back on, change the seals and lube them up as well when going back together. Shouldn't need to remove the cable unless it looks like it might get in the way.

Thanks for the responce, do you know if i have to buy the 2 different sizes seperately or do they come in a kit with a few different size pieces? Also, do you know what size the lines are if i do have to buy them seperately?

U should be able to rent the kit from your local auto store, they come as a kit, usually color coded.

Which lines are you talking about, your fuel rails or the hidious looking stock fuel line running under the car?

why do u need to know the size of the stock fuel rails? Im kinda confused on why u would buy them seperatly...

I dont want to buy the rails, I need the spring lock tools.

u dont need to know the size, just tell them what car it is. The tools come as a kit
(usually)

the tools come as a kit...it's usually called an a/c disconnect kit, which also works on fuel lines. There's a scissors looking one for like 5 bucks w/ all sizes or you can get the pack of 4 color coded ones for like 10 bucks. I'd just buy 'em if i were you. But yea, you just put it over the little connection, push the connector in, take the tool off and pull the line out, no big deal. Gotta have the tools though and i'd recommend 4 seperate ones in a kit rather than the scissors looking thing...i've used both.
