After looking thru many pic's of engine bays on here and other forums as well as FleeceBay and such.
I started wondering if anybody worries about having too much rubber line for your fuel supply.

Its been some time ago that I went to the tracks, But back then
you could not pass Tech inspection with more than 6 inchs of rubber line.
plus you had to have a double return spring set on the throttle.

Have the rules changed that much in the past 25 years?

Do you run metal tubing fuel line in your engine bay,
Or will you change to it after you get the fire out.

Rules have not changed, hard steel or braided in you engine compartment (you can have like one short section of rubber, might be 6", I don't have any)

Double spring on throttle.

NHRA rules are no more then 12" of line. I run high pressure push lock rubber hose that is NHRA approved. the hose isnt too pricey, but the fittings will kill ya.

I just did the gas line for the 2x4 setup in my '68. I used 5/16 steel line throughout. The reason I chose 5/16 is that it screws directly into my stock fuel pump (no rubber), then I bought a brake line tee to split it between the carbs, then ran each steel line right to the holley banjo fitting, where I joined it by a 2" piece of rubber to the Holley carb. I think steel lines are too easy to fab to use just rubber, and braided stainless looks ok (not my favorite) when new, but can't be cleaned, so it looks pretty bad pretty quickly.

I also point out the risk of rubber lines and the glass fuel filters to folks that are new to the hobby. Once you've been around for awhile, you switch from learning just from your own mistakes to also learning from others.

I have started making braided steel fuel lines with -an hose fittings. I think it is really easy to do and would actually prefer to have all -an lines instead of rubber.
