the fuel pump has a valve in it to keep some small amount of presure in the lines, this allows the pump to quickly pump up to the fuel presure needed to run the car. when this valve goes ( very common threre is a TSB on explorers for this) it make it take longer for the pump to get to operating presure.

There probably is an overpressure relief valve somewhere in the system too.

do you also realize a leaky injector would cause that cylinder to flood and he would also be complaining of a misfire. and a leaky regulator also would cause other driveablitiy concerns

please go read a little about ford eec and fuel systems in late model fords then come back..

Just got a 95 gt stock Fuel pump from a mustang forum memeber. hopefully, this will fix my problem.

Ill update when its replaced.

is it used? if so it might have the same problem.. remember you need to replace the entire sending unit not just the pump.

I apologize for the retard comment. This is my favorite forum and I do not want to cause any problems.

Back to the issue,
He stated that his car would lose pressure when he would key off. It would go from 28 to 15psi. I claimed the pump itself doesn't create pressure when it is off. svttech76 pointed that there is a check valve in the pump outlet could be bad. If that is the case then the pressure would leak back through the pumping elements. So, I am the retard, he might have a bad pump check valve and his problem is the pump and not a leak somewhere else in the system. I guess we will wait and see if the new pump solves the issue.

I hope the pump fixes it for him, but he needs the whole sending unit for this to work atleast thats what the old TSB had us do..
