Twisted said:It is not the fuel pump you retards!!! The pump cannot create pressure when it if OFF. He either has leaking injectors or a leaking fuel pressure regulator.
who the hell are you calling a retard... You really should watch your mouth, because your dead WRONG and now I am going to explain why
the fuel pump has a valve in it to keep some small amount of presure in the lines, this allows the pump to quickly pump up to the fuel presure needed to run the car. when this valve goes ( very common threre is a TSB on explorers for this) it make it take longer for the pump to get to operating presure.
Twisted said:If the pump is not spinning it cannot create flow/pressure. When it is off the only pressure in the system is the pressure when it was turned off. If you have a leaking injector, the pressure can leak out there. If you have a bad regulator the pressure can leak out there.
Are 97's return or speed controlled fuel systems?
There probably is an overpressure relief valve somewhere in the system too.
do you also realize a leaky injector would cause that cylinder to flood and he would also be complaining of a misfire. and a leaky regulator also would cause other driveablitiy concerns
please go read a little about ford eec and fuel systems in late model fords then come back..

BTW you have a PM
