Fuel Pump Return Restrictor

How important is the fuel line return restrictor, at the fuel pump?? Mine was old and was falling apart, rather than risk chunks in the fuel system, can i get away with it and be ok, installing a 155lph from a 255lph going bad. Who has a new one if really needed??

That's actually a duck bill one way flow valve. Its purpose is the keep fuel from flowing back out of the tank should the vehicle turn upside down and rupture the return fuel line. Hello flaming pony if that happens...

You will have to estimate the chances of that sort of accident happening and decide if it is worthwhile to replace.

So no local auto parts really has this part. I'm just gonna add a fuel check valve outside the tank on the rubber return line

Does air also trade in the the duckbill valve, will an inline fuel check valve work the same??

From it's position on the fuel pump assembly, it appears to me that it's primary function is to cool the fuel pump when the level in the tank goes below it.

so no place has only the valve, but i got the fuel pump housing from the Zone and it had one on it, so im just gonna replace it too, the old housing one really needed to be replaced anyways.

Now you have eliminated one possible problem, just keep the car's shiny side up...
