My fuel pump is taking a dive and I need to replace it. I have future upgrades in mind that will need a larger fuel pump, but for at least another year I will have a relatively stock 5.0. With 255 lph being a popular upgrade to the stock fuel system, will putting a 255 lph fuel pump on a mostly stock 5.0 affect how the engine performs? Will it effect gas mileage? Basically, can you throw it in without it having a nasty effect on the car?

of course, it will be fine. maybe even better. the stock pump is 88 lph until 1989, then from 90-93 it is 95 lph, and they are both not even enough for the stock system, so any upgrade in fuel system to a stock motor will help. maybe not noticable in the SOPF, but gas mileage may increase, who knows. Also, u might want to look into the ford motorsport 190 lph pump, it is less than the 255, but as long as u dont go insane with the motor it will do just as good, AND the 190 kit comes with new everything, not just the pump itself which u would have to switch out and move everything over if u got the 255 lph.
