I was looking at aero motives fuel pump wiring upgrade and was wondering If need it. Also $70 seems alittle steep for a relay and some wiring. Can I make this kit with parts from the auto parts store and wire it in? The aero part number I'm looking at is Jegs number 027-16301. I plan on runny my 255 pump with a inline pump like the t-Rex or the Aeromotive stealth in tank pump, on my turbo set up. Any help would be appreciated.

i bet you could build this setup for about $30-40

check out jegs part # 10564

the chart at the bottom of the page is helpful when trying to determine gauge requirements.

Do not try to wire the fuel pump without the relay. The 15-20 amps the pump pulls will overload the circuit. This will take power away from other items on the same circuit or cause the fuse or fuse link to blow.

The fuel pump relay is under the driver's seat. You need that wire as a 'turn on' wire to your in-line pump relay.

If you are going to only run the in tank pump you do not need to make any wiring changes.
Here's what the stock wiring setup looks like:

I assume you decided to just go with the Aeromotive in-tank then?

The existing wiring is good for 20 amps. Check the current draw spec for the pump you plan on using. If it is 20 amps or less, you probably won't gain any measurable increase in flow by replacing the wiring. The fuel pressure regulator limits the fuel pressure, so you won't gain anything there without adding a FMU.

Thanks I'm still undecided on which route I want to go but I think a new in rank pump would be easiest

This is why I brought this question up because in this article he saw gains just by adding the wiring to his factory wiring.
