Fuel pump

Ok so my 98 has about 200k on it now and when i bought it wit 165k the fuel pump was bad but i still have problems with the fuel pump whinning and makeing noise, so im now questioning myself if there isn't a second fuel pump that isnt in the tank but in the line somewhere.

i usually hear the noise when the engine gets low in rpms and it will keep doing this till i let off the gas then it will downshift and be fine till the rpms get low again.

so my basic question is how many fuel pumps are on a 98 v6 mustang

only one.

Could the noise you hear be the fuel regulator? When flow is low, the majority of the fuel is returned via the return line. Perhaps that is what you are hearing.

i'm not sue, u know thats why i asked, but i only hear the squealing noise when the engine is getting bogged down, basically the computer doesn't downshift and the motor gets low on rpms, and then the rear of my car will squeal till i let off the gas and get back int it so the car will be forced to downshift.
