so madspeed scared me.... i have a stock fuel rail that came with my cobra intake... i had been wondering about the cross tubing now im thinking no way....since ill have bigger fuel pump and pressure...

what fuel rail does everyone run / recommend? strong street hci build...

i figure a larger pump 340... will run more fuel through the lines, more volume = more pressure im also going bigger lmaf and matching 42 injectors... tune will balance it all but my understanding is the fp may be greater than stock... reason for going big = future SC...

am i wrong on the volume = pressure?

Unless it's a high pressure pump, it will not increase pressure at the rail....and even still, the regulator is going to dumb it down to 40psi.

Not sure why you would consider a 340lph pump. A HP255lph pump will more more fuel through the stock rails than they're able to handle anyway (about 500hp N/A). The 340lph pump is reserved for people with large fuel rails and the need to support 500+hp. Kind of a waste of money for everyone else. You'll never max out a HP255lph pump with stock rails and a stock block.

The stock fuel rails will easily support 450hp. The FPR and EEC keep the fuel pressure regulated. I believe the issue with Mad was the stupid schrader mounted fuel pressure gauge that no one should ever consider.

thanks! im off base then....so the rails and cross over never see more pressure than regulator/ecu allows and that is beyond what id approach anyway... ?

i was thinking since it was on the return side ?? it caused more backup pressure than being on feed side allowing more flow through volume.... dam vs tap..... is that right?

considering it was a closed loop system, i assumed increased volume that much larger pump would deliver through the same fixed space would increase pressure in the whole system and that the regulator just controlled volume/pressure as required by the injectors via the ecu...and that was where the actual point of reference occurred for regulation...the orifice of the injector telling the ecu what it wanted for said volume via the table...

what i now understand is that unless the rails suc k and are faulty there is no issue..... ill go with what i have then...

im actually getting a really good deal on a new aeromotive 320...

* sorry mad, i thought you had said something about your sn95 rail crossover...

judging from the carnage, I believe it actually was the fuel crossover line split. The worst of my burning was done right at the distributor. I still will not run a rail mounted gauge any longer for safety sake

for a hundred or two dollars in parts, think ill go with piece of mind.....

so aeromotive, bbk, trickflow, edelbrock, others? whose rail is best option?

im thinking using braded fuel lines from/to the source / return lines - maybe russell?

i dont like the rubber tubing bbk uses but it is the least expensive... the accell and mallory have the return coming from the middle of the rail??

thanks for the help!

I have the Russell braided lines and Professional Products fuel rails and fuel pressure guage. Very happy with the Russell lines. The rails not so much. It took a few modifications to get them to fit right, and a couple of tries to get them to stop leaking. Mainly there was zero customer service. I tried contacting PPI a couple of times with questions and never got a response. Everything works fine now though. I just was on my own figuring it out.

I prefer Glenn's or Behind Bars Race Cars fuel rails personally. Don't get a rail that has the return in the middle of one of the rails. That's a poor design, IMO.

Thanks Scott, ill look those up... thanks for confirming the accell/mallory is just off somehow....

Thanks Spaz! so no to PPI products, but Russell is a good plan if braided not part of 'kit'

others???

I run TechAFX PTFE (teflon) braided stainless lines with Fragola fittings. I didn't want to deal with the potential of braided rubber lines leaching fuel vapors after a few years. Fuel systems are expensive man. I wouldn't replace your stock lines until your power levels demand it. Once you start replacing lines, you're no longer in the couple hundred dollar range.

this techAFX ?

BlackWrap Braided SS PTFE Hose (conductive core)

-6, -8, -10 what size?

gotta assume its the fittings that run up the cost...

this may address my increased volume via aeromotive 320, better rails, adjustable fp gauge (for tune...)
all overkill but a long term do it once strategy....

I ran a -10 feed and -8 return, but I have a 1000hp capable setup. With your 42lb injectors, your stock lines will flow more fuel fuel than your injectors will need. It will probably cost you a grand to build a PTFE fuel system. The fittings cost a pretty penny.
