I posted this in 5.0 tech also, but just wanting some opinions and if any of you have had this happen. Been driving the 93 to break in the clutch. Tuesday i let it warm up for about 5 min before leaving work. I get about 1/2-1 mile away and it dies like i ran out of gas. I pull over try to start it, nothing. I then turn the key off then on and no pump cycle? Turn it off then on pump cycles start it go about 20 feet dies again. Do thekey pump cycles and go i get almost home and i had to stop at the light does it again? I get home go get my son from track and it does it again on our way home. I go out the next night start it let it run for about 20 min bliping the throttle every now and then does fine. Go for a drive get about 2 miles from home and does it all over again? I then go out the next morning and try to start it the pump cyles but real quick, shut the key off then on it cycles normal. So last night i try it and the pump dont cycle try it a couple times then it will normally. I start it run for a couple min then shut it down. Try it again starts then i disconnect the switch in the trunk. Try to restart it and fires right up. I then shut it off again, turn the key and the pump cycles quickly and slugishly start it dies. Now as of then it wont cycle? I check for power at the pump and it reads like 6.25. I'm not getting a check engine light and have good pressure when running. It dosent run any diffrent when driving it it just dies like i shut off the fuel. Could this be the relay's? pump? I have another pump and the relays are just $12 but who wants to go replacing the parts to find it wasent it? Or better yet i dont want to drop the tank to find the same thing! :bang: BTW this all started all of a sudden! peace

What pump do you have?
Hows it wired?
What type of filters are you using?
Where is your fuel pump relay and is it exposed to the elements?
Are you using an adj regulator?

It's wired just like stock, as far as i know it's a walbro/holley 255 pump it was installed before i got it to run a s/c. The one i have to replace it with is also a walbro/holley 255. Not shure on the filter but i'm gonna pick up a new one here in a bit, on the 93's they are located by the maf, but mine is in the inner fender now and is protected from weather atleast i beleive it is? (inner fender is in) yes i have an adjustable FPR with gauge mounted in the schrader valve opening. peace

When it does run whats the pressure at the regulator? Should be 30-40ish.
That relay can be very sensitive to corrosion and the water. I'd pull it and very closely look inside of it. Anything green is bad. Obviously rust as well.
Did the car previously have an external pump?

I'd just spend the money buy a new relay, had this problem on a buddies, would start sometimes and not others, or just die, but start up in a few minutes, sound familer right, it was the relay, and his is a 93 to, and in the same spot. He wraped him up in a platic bag, never had a problem sence.

Thanks for the info and help guy's! I spent a good part of yesturday (9-6) working troubleshooting and hunting down the right relay. Got it and works great now! You would know it but of all place's who had the RIGHT ONE! SHUCKS! :nonono: Went to napa they tried to sell me one that wasent quite right, auto zone LOL they told me from 93-95 were all the same :nonono: then finally schucks had the right one! Cost me $17? There was corrosion on the terminals and sorta rusty. peace

I will prob go out and do the same. I have all it tucked inside the inner fenders, plus i usually dont drive in the rain because of this reason. But last couple of weeks i have to break in the clutch. peace

Nope, that wasnt me. I saw your car in the parking lot, thinking, I recognize that one. Then Mylan told me it used to be a cop car and he bought some stuff from you. Its a nice car, very clean and sharp. I remember you posting your new clutch before, I figured Id give you a hard time anyways.

87-92 V8 is under the driverseat, 93 ONLY is under the MAF or close to it on fender well. I hid all the wireing and filled all the holes so mine is now in the inner fender. I seen your fuel problems also in 5.0 section, any luck with yours yet?I got a 255 walbro pump ready to be dropped in i might sell to ya if you havent bought one. ALMOSTBLOWN yeah it's not in to bad of shape but def. not as nice as my 95 was. I hate white cars. Mine needs a little here and ther got a new bumper for the rear in my shed, then one of these days starting on the body work and color change. First thing for buissness is moving this week. thanks for the complaments tho. peace

Glad it was a easy fix.

255L pump is a LITTLE big for a a NA car...............IMOP ( heats fuel up)

I had great luck with Ford Racing 190L pumps.

It was in there cause the guy before me had a blower for it, but brian never purchased it from him and when i bought the car he had already sold it, i left it in cause was gonna (and still might :D ) run the bottle on it. peace

A FPR controls the amount of fuel though.

I put my Walbro pump is last night. Car runs fine again. The thing that was causing the car to die on the freeway though was my Fenderwell CAI getting Soaked with rain. Like i said the car only seemed to do this in the rain. I took my inner fenderwells out a few weeks ago for cleaning, and nver put them back in, causeing the Air filter to just get drenched:bang:
