Fuel

What octane rating you guys running in your cars? i run Super (93) but the manual says only to run regular (87) in it? just wondering y and if theres a reason?

If your car is stock, you are just wasting money for the most part. In a lot of engines designed and tuned to run 87 octane, the performance will actually be worse with 93. This is primarily due to the slower burn rate of higher octane fuel.

That being said, if you change parameters by such as advancing timing, then the higher octane and more stable burn rate will be necessary.

Bottom line, if you're running a stock built and tuned car, use 87 octane and save your pennies for mods that will require them.

Exactly. If you're tuned for 93 than run it. If you've got a stock car with factory programming stop wasting your money.

I have the stock tune and use Chevron 87 octane. Back in the old days, the premium grade had a better additive package than the regular grade. In the case of Chevron, that is no longer true. The additive package for all their gasoline sold in the United States is the same. I didn't ask the other companies, because I use only Chevron. I happen to think that the Techron in Chevron is good stuff.
