Will I lose power installing a full exhaust (headers, offroad h pipe, and catback) on a stock motor?? I want to get that nice sound of a full exhaust but on the other hand i dont want to lose the power. Would not installing new headers keep the power loss down to a minimum??

You'll probally loose a little low end torque, but proball will gains some HP. Not as much of a gains as if you had H/C/I, but then again it won't sound like you have H/C/I either, but it will set you up for the future.

I dont see how you would lose power, shouldnt you gain it? Just by opening up the exhaust flow to breathe a little better. combine that with nice sounding and its all good

edit- I missed the part about not installing new headers. I've heard that new headers can cause a bit of a power loss, and I knwo a guy that actually put his stockers back on What were you planning on going with, shorties or long tubes? that might be helpful to know

You will lose a lil bit down low but thats nothing but power that helps blow the tires off the car anyways right? You'll gain power where it will be more useful and THATS what counts...plus it'll sound bad ass.

If you don't plan on building it beyond that, or don't plan on building it beyond 275fwhp or so, you could install a set of 1 1/2 inch headers instead of the more popular 1 5/8 inch. They still breath considerably better than the stockers, yet will allow you to retain most of not all of your low end torque, while also ableing your engine to breath deeper up top too.

My point exactly. you will lose on the bottom end and maybe even at the top to, for some reason every one thinks that louder is faster, it's not. In every comparison that you see in a magazine every engine that they use to test these headers and exhausts are modified, which personally pisses me off. Just cause it makes 10 horse on a 400hp engine doesn't mean it will help you any. Any one that says that you don't need torque is thinking on a track not a street, you are not going to peg the thing every time you leave a light are you? Sorry for the rant, but I get upset when people think that loud is fast. I'm not saying that it wouldn't help you on a Heavily modified car, But it's almost like people (especially ricers) think that open headers works on my buddy's drag car so it will make my street car fast. I had one kid want me to do his civic with three inch duals, retarded. I'm sure it will be loud but with no back pressure he'll have to get his buddies out to push it from a stop light. again sorry for the rant, my 2 cents.
