It looks like the Mustang motion is not slowing down! September Mustang sales were up 73.33% compared to last year! The Mustang for the year is up 36%. However, the down side is that the rest of Ford is sucking the big egg on sales!

Ford reported sales figures yesterday to the media. They were - 28% Trucks / SUV's and +6 % in cars... Most of that thanks to the Mustangs!

The trucks being down doesn't surprise me after Ford sold like 190,000 trucks in a single month a couple of months ago due to heavy rebates and "ford family pricing".

Yeah, the market for larger vehicles is coming back to reality extreamly fast for all three of the American OEM's.

Kind of sucks when you work in the automotive industry, but I won't complain.

Hopefully Ford will be able to meet the demand of the Mustangs now and in the future. 2008 can not get here soon enough!

In reality Mustang sales in September were NOT good.

The comparison over last September is an anomoly because Ford stopped making the 04 models in May 2004 so the 04s were mostly sold out by September. The 05 models started production on September 7 and few of them made it to the dealers before the month ended.

Mustang sales for Sept were only 10,976.
This follows weak sales in August 10,921
and weaK sales in July 10,577.

Unless sales show a big increase in Oct, Nov & Dec, 2005 Mustang sales will come in at only the 21st best year for Mustang sales.

On the bright side 2005 sales should be the best since 2001. But it looks like sales in 05 won't be has high as the years 1999, 2000 & 2001.

This is probably a result of the long wait's that current customers are experiencing when they order a Mustang from Ford. Roll in the fact that they keep increasing the price of the base car and you can see why they are having trouble selling this car.

The Mustang is what brings people into the showrooms... It might not be the car people switch out of there SUV / Truck for, but it's definently generating the buzz that Ford needs.
