I had a fun day yesterday.

My girlfreind, myself, and a buddy of mine from our Mustang club went to the drag strip yesterday. After sitting in a horiffic amount of traffic, driving for about 2 1/2 hours we get there to find out there is NO ONE but the owners there.

Someone had come and cut their wiring to the tree and timing equipment. They said since we drove all that way 5 bucks and the track is ours. Oh, hell yes.

So we get in, and another guy trailers his Stang in from the area we were coming from. It was a GUTTED LX hatch with a built auto, slicks, and fairly stock 289.

My freinds Stang is a 93 GT 5 speed, h/c/i full bolt on car, 4.10's.

We both outran the guy with the LX without too much of a problem.

We went from a stop and a roll (yes, a roll on the strip).

When I lined up with the GT the competition was really on. From a dig my car gets off the line faster (even with stock gears) and I could hold him off down the track, but his 5.0 runs HARD right up to 6k and his 4.10's keep the engine spinning up there so from the roll runs he would start to walk away from me.

Just looking at my speedo (not accurate, I know) I was crossing the line at around 79-80mph.

After that, we went to Thunder Valley Raceway in Red Springs, NC. I was broke so I didnt run (drank alot of gas, needed food money for later), but my freind did and on his first pass clicked off a 8.7 at 81, with a 2.0 60' on street tires..:nice:

So im fairly confident my car is a strong runner for the most part. I shouldnt have a problem clicking off some upper 8 second runs in the 1/8th mile.

Our local track is FINALLY opening up this weekend, so we will see.

It was a pretty fun day, I tore my car up and it felt great...:D
