I'm installing a water temp and oil pressure gauge in my '87. I'm going to tap my backlights into my headlight fuse. How do you get around to the back of the fuse box? I can't seem to pull it through or twist it around.

I tapped into the wire coming from the dimmer for my gauge lighting so that I can control it along with the dash lights. Not sure if you can do that with tapping directly into the fuse box. either or should get your lights on though.

You would want to use fuse 13 for your gauge lighting, if desiring to have it dim.

Good luck.

My dimmer has 4 wires coming from the back. Which one do I use?

That's not funny. Put the correct fuse back in ASAP.

I just checked and it is a 10amp in the #13 slot. I bought a 5amp fuse. Should I leave the 10amp or put the 5amp in?

I wouldnt even consider using more than the stock rated fuse. If there's an issue, I'd hunt it down.

This fusebox diagram, courtesy of S&2B's (site host) and Tom Moss (author) might be helpful.

Good luck.

the tach is easy I just did mine a month or so ago..
green on the tach---went to the green with yellow stripe on the coil harness

red on the tach---went to a key switched power in the buse block

white on the tach---I have in the foglight fuse but will be going to the dimmer fuse (right now the tach light goes out when I flick my high beams on lol.

black on the tack---if I need to explain this you shouldn't be allowed to own a car

Its ok to just run the red wire to the fuse box like I did for my gauge lights? Because in the instructions it says run from the ignition key switch with a 4amp fuse.
