i have a 1990 gt convertable and i recently replaced the factory radio with a jvc. everything worked well for a while until the fuse blew, so i tried to change it and it blew every time i put a different one in. even when i disconnected the radio from that fuse, fuse 8. fuse 8 controls the radio, the dome lights trunk light, glove box light and cigarette lighter and none of them work. Do i need to check all those wires to find the problem??? has anyone had this problem? any advise?

If you disconnect the radio and put a new fuse in, does the fuse still blow? Or does it blow even if the radio isn't connected? If the radio is doing it, maybe check to make sure all the radio wires and connected properly, no bare wires touching each other that shouldn't be, etc.

I cant remember if the lighter is on the radio circuit, but if so, SScobra is right. A piece of change can fall into the lighter receptacle and short the power to ground.

92P5.0 suggested just what I would do too. BTW, congrats on the 1K posts milestone. :nice:

Good luck.
