FYI! Pulled my motor, smog pump is hard to turn! damn guys you better check yours!

I dident even realize how hard my smog pump was to turn. must have siezed after all the miles!! my bro has another spare one in the garage, and that is EASY to turn by had, no, not mine. wow, that must have seriously been eating up like 25 hp. i can barely turn it by hand. just telling you guys if you havent yet, go out, slip off off ur belt and see how hard it is for you to turn the smog pump by hand, should go really easy, not much resistance

Lemme go in the garage, find the box that thing is sitting in and see how it spins The smog pump doesn't use more then 2-3hp max, removing it saves like 10lbs (weighed it on my bathroom scale) and removes clutter from the engine bay. Keep it connected if you run cats.

I want to remove mine. is there a faq on how to do so and what else can be removed or has to be done to keep the engine running correctly. I have no cats and dont get emissions tested.

i gotta keep mine for testing so i just bypass it with a shortbelt. it only gets used once every 2 years for about 45 min

Did you get the 89.5 inch belt and have your waterpump spin backwards? I am extremely interested in doing this. Mine is making my car bog hardcore for the first few minutes of driving.
