those Jedi mind tricks are at work again.

seriously, there is the sender, the sender wire and the anti slosh module that i think would be the most likely to fail. if you remove the sender wire and ground the wire, the gauge should peg.

if it does not, that (to me) would made me look at the anti-slosh module, since the reading does not appear to make it through the module (from test above).

but if the gauge did peg, i would check the sender.

good luck.

bad sender 99 times outta 100 just re-place that and she should work fine or you can run a autometer guage cause it is gonna be cheaper then the stock sender and way more accurate. im outta the loop what happened about shell's gas????????

shell gas had a problem this past month with a bad mix of gas that was eating away at the sending units sensor....it was causing them to read innacurate or just stop working period....they even had to close a bunch of stations here....it was only regular and midgrade tho...i guess they corrected the problem but im not sure...

It's not just my gas gauge, none of my engine gauges are working. What might cause that? The only things that do work are speedo and tach.

Have you picked up the Chiltons or Haynes manual for the car?

there is a voltage regulator on the back of the cluster, which 'irons' out twitchy needles by eliminating alternator-output caused movement, and making the needles show 'trends' more than real time movement.

the gas gauge has the aforementioned anti-slosh module, as well.

a manual is one of the best investments you can get. good luck.

Wow, this is great. Yes, sorry I am a newbe, I have been real busy and could not seem to get in here and post my first question and when I did I must have saw a dyslexic 5.0 and put it in the 05 section, (ya ima bonehead). Never thought I would get so much feed back so soon, thank you all. I'm about to go out of town for a week, and I hope to dig into this problem this weekend before I leave. I did purchased a Haynes Repair Manuel, so that should also help. Thanks for comming to my defense my friend in California, but I am sure he is just razzing me, I can take it. Now lets see if he can take a little razzing. Hmmmm lets see.........ah ok, WOW 1,000 postings..........gee thats very impressive........well I guess we know where to find you on a Friday night...........and in those 1,000 postings, do you ever have any helpfull advice or do you just look for mistakes to point out?.............and hm.............also............you are from California too, or did you forget?..........now I'm just razzing you so don't get flustered.

take care all
