so my gas gauge never reads full. so i figured that the float in the tank had a leak or something. pull the sending unit out, and lift the arm all the way up and it still pegs out at about 3/4's of a tank. what gives? anyone know what the maz and min ohm reading on the sending unit should be?

Where does the needle sit when it's close to empty ? The only reason I ask is, my temp gauge goes well past "C" and then when it heats up, it never goes to where I think is normal. I was wondering if it would be possible to reset the position of the needle on a gauge myself.

Same thing happened to me when I installed a new sender.

I never did figure out the problem. Old sender seemed to work fine, but I figured since I was replacing the tank might as well do the sender at the same time.

mine reading around 76ohms empty and about 12-17ohms full. however, when i short the gas sending unit wire to ground, the gauge goes well pass full. i guess i'll just buy a new sending unit and hope for the best. anyone have any ideas on this one? i guess the 5 ohms is making that much of a difference.
