gas mileage

i get 15 in town. most of it has to do with how hard you stand on the pedal.

while a bit low, that does not sound too unreasonable (depending upon how spirited your gas foot is. :) ).

Just filled up 10 minutes ago - 9.9 gallons on 216.7 miles - 21.9 mpg. Most of that has been easy cruising miles around town with little stop and go traffic. Mine routinely gets 18-20 around town, and 24-26 on the highway running about 65 mph. That's with 3.73's and 'brick'-like aerodynamics. Oh yeah - 5 speed, and mild H/C/I - about 280HP and 335 lb-ft at the crank.

Michael, i wish i saw your milage. :) this speaks well for your tip top state of tune. :)

:OT: i thought you were running something comparable to a 3.90 rear gear in your Dana?

3.73's (my gear - 41 tooth ring/11 tooth pinion) with a 225/50/16 tire (my size) is like a 3.89 with a 225/55/16 (Stang size) tire. :)
ahhh so. you got me crosswired (only the ~3.90 spec had stuck in my bean).

i have always wondered how hard you stand on it around town, when you are churning those nice gas figures. i suppose with a 'little' more power in tap and gearing as such, you dont need to stand on it as much as some of us to move at the same rate. :)

thanks for the clarification. :nice:

The 2.73 once got 26 MPG highway, but averaged around 23 MPG. With a 4.10, I get 19-20 MPG highway, and with the old 3.55 20-21 highway.

I should note that the 2.73 milage was with a stock motor. The 3.55 and 4.10 milage is with the motor as it sits now...

I am gettin about a 13.5 on the highway with my 2.73, a 5spd, and worn out 225/55/16 tire

Holy crap dude. At over $2 a gallon you must be dirt poor. LOL My mileage in town sucks. Somewhere around 13 or 14 mpg. On the highway.... I get about 225 mile on the OD when the gas guage hits 1/4. So somewhere between 25 - 30 mpg.

Daggar - "I get about 225 mile on the OD when the gas guage hits 1/4. So somewhere between 25 - 30 mpg." Certainly at some point you've actually topped it up and done the math, rather than relying on that notoriously inaccurate gas gauge. :)
