A big variable here is what 'around town' means. For me, it means very little in the way of traffic. That makes it easy to get better mileage. If you're in heavy stop and go commuting, 12-15 mpg for almost anything with a V-8 in it is not unreasonable. Well, it may be unreasonable, but it's not unusual!
I get consistent 13mpg and under city driving. Whether I baby it or not, it never goes up. Is that bad? It's pretty irritating hearing about people getting 20+, when I don't even get 20 highway driving. (Drove to springfield and back, 330 miles or so, had cruise set on 65 the WHOLE way). In the city, I'm lucky to make it to 70-80 miles before my tank reaches halfway.
