HI guys... we usually have mustangs come in our shop all the time. I noticed that when I push my gas pedal say i'm doing a small rev... it just feels kinda week. I was comparing it to a completely stock 89GT at our shop and his pedal just feels so more full. Like you give a lower RPM rev and it just feels like it's there ready to haul ass off the line. He doesn't have any mods on it. Mine just feels lagged or something... Maybee my tps or something is going bad? Anyone have any tips for this?

FWIW, the accelerator on the 88 Gt vert is a lot firmer than the one on '94.
I like Andy's idea with the return spring. Shimming the freeplay out of the SN accelerator has been said to improve throttle feel too.

Good luck.

I just put zip ties around the cable at the gas pedal. I've also seen guys use small hose clamps ..... and even wire splicers. You just pull the pedal out as far as it will go .... then put some zip ties on the remainder of the cable slack until all the slack is gone. TOTALLY different throttle response .... it's just takes some time to get used to the new feel, especially if you have a manual tranny.

i just bought an adjustable cable from LOKAR stainless.... you can adjust it at firewall, and at the throttle cable bracket, i plan to take all the slack out ofmine......

looks mint too.....

Hmm interesting... I was looking at it today (has a lot of slack in it). When your talking about putting a zip tie around it do you mean like zip tie it to the spring or something? so it holds it down a little bit? I think I know what your saying, but i'm not sure at the same time.

Im talking about under the dash at the gas pedal. You put the zip ties (or whatever you choose) between the spring at the end of the cable & the top of the pedal. It's kind of a back breaking task because it's hard to fit under there, but it's worth it. I've done it to every vehicle I've owned. It gives you alot better throttle response. You'll see what I'm talking about when you look under there.

I tried this yesterday and the throtle response that I have now is almost scary!! Now it kind of feels like I have a supercharger on my car! A big thank you to whoever thought this one up.

:nice: Each zip tie is worth 40+ HP!! J/K, but yeah, it does help alot. Feels like a totally different car.

For anyone else out there .... pull up on your gas pedal. If it moves AT ALL, you NEED to do this.

awesome awesome awesome, thanks guys i'm gonna do this over next weekend. Just out of curiosity i'm actually wondering if I'm acheiving WOT right now... i'm going to take off my CAI and do a before and after look at the butterfly in the TB. See if it makes any difference in that area.

which method did you use, the zip tie method or the nylon spacer method?
