Gas pedal feels lagged...

which method did you use, the zip tie method or the nylon spacer method?

I used the zip tie method, and it took six pretty wide ties to get all of the slack out of the cable.

Well .... I wouldn't use that many zip ties unless they were really wide ones. It will make "clicking noises" with that many on there (from the plastic rubbing together so much). I would use a nylon spacer, tiny hose clamp, wire splicers, etc. I have used a wire splicer before, so I know that works good.

Wow, I thought everyone on this forum would have known about this. If I'd have know it would help some of you out this much, I would have posted this a long time ago.

i did this mod earlier and man, i'm glad i did. waaay better pedal feel and the car feels awesome. i used about 6 wide zip-ties--alls i gotta do now is cut off the ends so they won't stick out... god d@m it's cramped under there...

thats what i did. i didnt even upgrade any parts. just swaped over to Fox parts (stock intake and TB). huge difference!!!!!

this winter, i got a 70mm TB and a Typhoon intake to replace it tho.

hmm, i was thinking. won't this mod put too much stress on the cable? stock, it stops pulling once the pedal hits the floor. but wide open throttle has now been moved up, which would now be at about 80% of pushing the pedal. what about the rest of the slack that we have to mash the pedal down even further? won't this put too much stress on the cable?

good question i was wondering this

also would it be possible for the zip ties or hose clamp to slowly wear away the wire and cause it to possibly snap after a while?

No, you won't have to worry about it wearing away the wire.

As far as the cable being vulnerable at WOT, I dunno. I've never had a problem so far.

Different car I know, but I thought about this before. If I was doing it I'd take up the slack and then have someone watch the tb to find wot. Then install a throttle stop under the petal to keep the line from being stretched. The gas petal should be lower then the brake petal though, in a panic stop it helps from hitting the brake and gas at the same time.

yeah, figures they did it for a reason. i had taken up ALL the slack using the zip-ties, but i removed 3 today... man, was it a pain in the arse. it feels a lot better with a little bit of slack, actually, so i may remove 1 or 2 more. good mod, nonetheless.

my advice: put maybe a couple zip-ties at a time and check how you like the feel instead of taking up all the slack and finding out you dont' really like it like that as i did--makes things much easier.

did this last night, but didnt take out all the slack. Just like Ram000 says. For how easy it is to do, and how much time it takes i would tell anyone who has done it too try it out. I also had a friend watch at the throttle body to make sure i was putting to much on and pulling on it at all.
