Gas Prices!

what else can we do?

we tried to take over the middle east but thats not gonna happen with the minimal support we have now. we cant drill or build more refineries because of the ****ing environmentalists. we tried going after the companies posting 500% profits but that didnt get far, theres always someone up close to the top getting kickbacks (and no, its not always gw).

unless you have a way of creating oil from thin air, these threads are useless. now tell me, aside from your whining about problems you cannot control, what is your solution?

IMO there are a few things we can do that can save money and cut down on our dependency for gasoline:

1) If youre a commuter, get a ****ing commuter car. an econobox works perfect. driving a F350 two and from work everyday and then bitching about gas is kinda counterproductive. get a beater that gets good mileage, it saves you because you buy less. sure it might suck to drive a dalipated car that makes you look like another ******* in a corolla, but you always have the nice car sitting in the garage, staying clean, and safe from any stupid drivers or dings/dents, and racking up more useless miles and wear.

2) those with SUV's for daily transportation. See 1. if you still dont get it, i dont want to hear you bitch. you can cram just the same amount of people/kids/equipment you could in your Expedition as you could in something more economical, like a taurus wagon or the like. hell even a more efficient crossover like a envoy/trailblazer/escape, or sadly, even a minivan. i know you like feeling safe up there in your Suburban above everyone else, but its a false sense of security.

3) You dont have to give up your powerful/guzzler car. we can all still have our leisure vehicles, our SUV's, our gas guzzling emissions spewing big blocks. just dont drive them every-****ing-where. this also saves you because you buy less gas.

4) Get a Bike! and no, i dont mean pedal power. brand new Ninja 250cc bikes are 2-3k from the dealership with a warranty, and get 150-200 miles per tank. if you drive it just to work and back and say you have a 5-10 mile commute, you use 3-4 gallons a month, if that. the money you save per month on gas savings in lieu of driving say, a mustang, would probably be equal to the bike payment. and guess what, not driving your precious mustang every day not only keeps its worth up, but it will save in other areas that are associated with daily driving (maintenance and wear items, etc). plus if its not driven daily, you can get a discount from your insurance if you let them know its for leisure/recreational use only, and limited to under 5000mi a year. take that gieco.

4) Less is More. duh. if everyone found a way to use 3-6 gallons less gas a week, and kept up with the routine, it would affect prices a whole ****load more than a "Gas Out May 15th" campaign ever could. Stations buy less, which in turn means less profit for the companies, which means they drop prices in hopes we buy more.

5) most importantly - Kill the environmentalists that hug trees and then turn around a bitch about paying 3.50 at the pump to fill up their VW Bus. prices would be at 3$ or under if we had two things; 1) more drilling in Alaska and Gulf of Mehico, and 2) more ****ing refineries that were more up-to-date, not still running at capacity like they were in the 70's.

Exactly. Long story short, if you can't deal with the gas prices sell the mustang, buy another car, and leave this forum forever.

I paid 2.83 for regular 2 days ago...It should be over $3 for regular here in a few weeks.

I'm paying ~$3.15 for premium. I miss the "regular" days

I'm paying about $3.30 here for premium. A new DD I see in my near future.

and all 3 of my toys require super! Let's see, Lexus IS300 $58 to fill, Mustang $39 to fill from 1/4 and GSXR1000 $13 to fill. Yikessss the prices suck!

YES THIS IS TRUE BUT THEY GO UP 50 CENTS AND COME DOWN 10 CENTS. MAKES NO SENSE

Does the price of gas really have that big of an impact, money wise, on a person? It hasn't really affected me. I pay about $15 more for a tank of gas than I did 3 years ago.

If you drive 5 or 10 miles per day..... no big deal
If you drive 50 or more per day........big deal

In all honesty, I have seen FAR less performance cars on the road here in the past few months. Generally, here in Tampa, Florida, we have tons of Mustangs, etc... that are quite common. Geez, I filled up my tank this morning with 93 octain at $3.19! I wish I had another car for a daily driver. Oh well.
