Gas Prices!

I hate paying 3.40 a gallon and I drive nearly 40,000 miles a year so I feel the pinch more than most. However, until the public (me included) is willing to get rid of V8 trucks, SUVs, mustangs, etc then we really have no right to complain about it.

Our prices however high they are is still MUCH lower than most the rest of the world, which includes Canada and the funny thing is the USA buy more oil from Canada than anyone else in the world.

You must not be a homeowner, if it were just the difference of a few dollars from a fill up at the pump it would be no big deal but everything goes up when fuel prices go up. Food is up 30% over 3-4 years ago as is heating/cooling expenses-electricity etc...Taxes are up because the municipalities & schools have to account for higher fuel costs so if you are a homeowner/head of household then you are shelling out an extra $5,000-10,000 a year minimum over 3-4 years ago just because the fuel costs went up and wages sure as hell didn't increase on that scale.

I think that estimate of 5-10K is on the high side. I am a home owner and our property taxes have went up, utilities have went up. But food is not up 30%, and yearly expenses are not up 10,000. That is WAY off.

We mainly drive our 05 Malibu now since it get about 30mpg but i'm thinking of adding a Diesel to the fleet...maybe a VW

Maybe its off for where you live but it is dead accurate for us in the Northeast...and fruits/vegetables are up 30% and more because they are directly related to fuel prices...We keep records of all our expenses and have seen the increases in our daily life and can pin point where and when things have went up. Everything went up with the fuel rise including CEO's stock options.

for 91 its 3.69 here in L.A but in S.F its nearing 4.00, but what can you do i need to drive to work so not buying gas is not an option

We pay 3.89 in certain places in Sacramento, Yeh me, thank god I live 1.4 miles away from work. !

Looking to buy an Expedition this summer for the family...so in a sense I don't like the higher gas prices, but boy is it gonna be nice to buy an 05-06 EB Expy for $14-17k......

its 3.59 on the southside of chicago.............. but premium is 3.89

This is what bothers me about gas prices, price gouging!

Indeed and those profits are taxable so that's $75-$750 per minute for the US Govt as well

The problem is that until it *really* starts to effect the economy (complaining doesn't count) then the government won't do anything to stop price gouging. That's part of the freedom we enjoy.. Have to take the good with the bad..

But, there in lies the problem, while some fat A$$ politician and ceo can sit on an annual paycheck of 100's of millions of dollars while your average family, or single guy/girl is getting a$$ raped with a square D$$K wraped in sandpaper, of course nothing will ever get done, because the guys that have the power to change this are taking a nice paycheck in there side pocket to keep it going,... The more s**T changes the more it stays the same !!
