Are you trying to do a high gloss finish like the body of our cars?

I just hit my cover with some gloss spray paint after cleaning it. Looked much better.

If you were trying to go beyond that, i'd hit it with some 800-1000 grit sand paper to rough it up. Clean it off. Maybe hit it with some adhesion promoter. Hit it with some black spray paint...maybe 3 coats. Let it dry. Maybe wet sand it to knock it all down and even. Then hit it with 2 coats of clear. Wetsand. Final coat of clear. Wet sand. Buff. Polish. Wax.

I would worry about it cracking because it's so thin and flexable...no body has had any issues?
