Do you need to use fuel disconnect tools to remove the two line on top of the gas tank in our cars?

The other funny thing is everyone was telling me the the tank is supported by two hinged braces. Mine is only hinged on the driver side. Is this normal or?

Mine was only hinged on the driver's side as well. I had to completely take off the passenger side brace.

Yes if you are removing the tank completely. If you’re just swapping out fuel pumps than no you don't have to but it would make things easier.
