I looked at 50resto and they only have a shield listed for 98-04 mustangs. Would this not fit on our cars?

On that site .. they say "please specify year" when ordering. That makes me think they are not all the same.

my thoughts exactly.

i think i'll take Dan's approach and buy a couple cans of bedliner coating and spray mine down. a little elbow grease and $10 worth of paint and it'll look just as good, imho.

They also make a ruberized spray for the inner fender liners which would probably work equally well. I plan to go this route. (spending $100 on a cover seems like a waste of money when you're going to have to get under the car regardless).

I'm going to use the opportunity to replace the in tank fuel pump, fuel filter, lines, and gaskets at the same time.

On a similar note,

Does anyone know where to get new straps?

the "specify year" is simply for the fuel tank straps you would be using. The fuel tank covers are all the same and fit with no issues.

They are molded in white, so any other color means it must be professional painted, or you can paint them yourself to save cost.
