well i was gonna try and drop my tank so i can change a couple gaskets, but my straps are so rusty they wont come off. I found on 50resto.com the bolts, j nuts, and straps, but they are for a fox body. can any one tell me if these will work ( i assume the bolts and nuts would work ) but what about the straps? if not where can i get some??

Is it the straps that are causing it not to come off or the bolts?

Oh you aren't actually that far away from me. I'm planning on painting mine black again sometime soon.

im still only able to find straps for the fox. i need them because the bolts are so rusted, that i need to cut the straps in order for the tank to drop. the straps are also really rusty, to the point where they are rotting.

Is it the straps, or the bolts that won't come loose? If it's just the bolts, you can get them to break with enough torque and buy new ones from your dealer's parts counter. The part number is N802060-S426 for the U shaped nuts that slide into the channel in the frame where the tank straps attach. I don't have a part number for the bolts themselves, but they should also have those in stock at your local Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer's parts counter. I just had the same problem when I had my tank out about a month ago. To save yourself the headache, you should pick up a new gasket for your filler neck while you're at it, since the factory one is almost guaranteed to tear when you remove the tank.
