Gasket: Timing cover to block

Timing cover gasket to block, what's the consensus as far as adhesive? Dots of Hi-Tack yellow adhesive to hold it still/thin bead of rtv around coolant ports? I did this same thing about a year ago and was leak-free and now forgot what I used.

Just did mine, used the blue RTV and the special "water" silicon around the coolant ports.

i used a bead of red all the way around the gasket
