So my tachometer started acting funny shortly after my T56 was installed. It would just get stuck sometimes and now has become much more frequent. Apparently this is a common problem and the solution is to have the entire unit replaced. I was told the speedometer and the tachometer are one single unit. Now the problem is that there is only one unit left in the United States and it is $308. Should I go with it or should I try a custom setup with autometer gauges or something like that? Anybody have a non-factory gauge setup? I'm not talking about overlays but the actual gauges themselves. Any pics of your setup would be great too (for inspiration). Thanks in advance.

No one really makes gauge clusters for these cars...Autometer makes them for the newer ones beaause the odometer settings are stored in the cpu or somewhere else. THe only thing in the cluster is the lcd readout of milage. So swithing gauge clusters on those cars is really easy and doesnt mess with the milage. YOu can get a used cluster from a yard and replace yours with that and report the milage change to whatever local office you need to. Or you can take yours apart and replace parts inside from the junkyard donor, or take apart the odo on the junk yard one and change it to your milage, etc.. THeres writeups on taking the thing apart...just look for them. But yea as far as aftermarket gauges I have no clue.

Also, the t56 has nothing to do with your tach readings so I dont see how that could be the cause. Unless you messed up the tach wire somehow during the install. I would look into that..it may not even be a gauge cluster issue at all. As far as where the wire runs...I dont know so you will have to find that out on your own.

Oh, also you could just get an aftermarket tach and be done with it that way:D .

As you can see, you have lots, and lots of options.:nice:
