Gauge install done (w/ BETTER pics)

(edit: added better pics)
Well, I did gauges today. I went with Speedhut as I was able to get some black-face gauges with a subtle yellow font for day driving-- much less distracting than white face (just my personal preference - no slam whatsoever on white-face gauge owners). They are "reverse glow" at night with a cool glowing green that is clearly non-stock but goes nice with cockpit's green lighting. Notice the cool "Ford Racing" logo in the speedo. Install was a bit more of a pain than I thought it'd be, but still doable. But the big bonus is that you do not have to remove needles so you do not have to do the big calibration step that some other gauges require.
:nice:

Not to sound stupid  but how did you get the guage face on without taking off the needles? This is the next mod I have in mind on my 01 Gt, but I've been putting it off because of the trouble of setting the needles. Looks great by the way.

Looks nice! Yeah how were you able to get away with not removing the needles?
The overlays come in three pieces. So what I did was orient each of the two needles for each overlay in the same direction, then slid the needles into the holes of the overlay, and popped it on.

Overall install was not too bad. I made the mistake of tring to splice into the 12v wire without removing the cable assembly from its connection first. The reason I tried to bypass this step was that disconnecting it was near impossible ... UNTIL I realized that you could easily get at it once you disconnect the bracket holding the headlight switch. Once I did that it was mostly a snap. Unfortunately before doing so I dropped the plastic splicing electrical connection into the car (lost forever, but luckily no rattles thank God). So, without I did a manual splice job with wire cutters and electrical tape. That really was my only hitch ... and it could have been avoided. Oh well, it all came out okay.

just noticed you're in the bayarea. what city??
Same basic neck of the woods. I live near Tracy (thank God not in it ... no offense to Tracy dwellers) in a new city called Mountain House, pretty nice place.

Nice...u also got that Ford Racing logo ?
Yeah, the cool thing about Speedhut is they add any of a bunch of different logos like "Ford Racing", and will even do customs.

what font did you use?
There are two available fonts. I went with the italic-looking Swiss font.

I got lucky and had them on when I bougt the car used with 8k miles on it... didn't even know they were indiglo until I took it home the first night!!! My last car had them for a 2 years. I forget what normal gauges look like!!!
