i have the monster tach dash pod with the 2 extra 2 5/8 holes. well most of the new style gauges are 2 1/16. the set i want are only in 2 1/16. to my suprise it seems impossible to find any mounting kits or reducers or even a 2 5/8 blank that could be drilled to fit a 2 1/16. ive searched the world over. i could go with a pillar pod to get me 2 gauges on and do away with my dash pod if i could find some other way to mount my tach without drilling holes in my dash. i wish they made the same style dash pod without the extra holes. i already have gauges in my vents. any suggestions besides turning my own adapter? you would think autometer would have benn asked this before.

well thats what i would need but wow there pricey .... i need to start turning and selling them myself. i was looking at a boost gauge and a wideband but i may be better off getting the A pillar mount because it may be easier to run hose and wires down the pillar. any thoughts? it would be sweet to have the dash pod that was just for the tach.

got to a local machine shop and see how much they will charge for one made from plastic. FWIW, I dont think 25 is that bad for one made of billet

Ok... thoughts:

Yes, it would be easier to run them down the pillar.

I have the pillar pod but IMO, it would look more, 'finished' if you spend the extra time and effort to run the lines to your dash pod if the one that you have is a nice one.

Mine is an 86 so I don't really have the option but the pod that I have for my 89 looks very nice. It's the ABS plastic type that is so common but is covered in black vinyl.

On the plus side for the pillar pod, it's right at eye level and perfect for quick reference. I run my vac/boost and fuel pressure gauge there.

Yeah, look at it this way: For 50.00 your problem is solved. You can keep the gauges you want and you don't have to cut your dash. Plus, made of billet, they won't look like you "adapted" anything.

Win, Win.
