Well I put my motor back into my car not too long ago, and when I turn the key to give it power all my gauges on my speedo go to max and back, and then when I start the car they do the same thing, and go back to normal Idle RPM, does anyone know whats wrong with it?!?!?!

Thanks,
JT

This is a result of the computer being disconnected from the battery. It should happen only once after you hook the battery up permanently. This is normal.

Does it happen everytime you turn your car on? I think they are just resetting themselfs? I know you can do this whenever you want by holding down the odometer button while you start your car then keep it held down while until something pops up on the odometer, and you can cycle through a bunch of different things. Check this out http://mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/dtcodes.htm

Oh, I re-read the post. This is happening every time you start it? Somehow the computer is not getting a constant feed of juice when you shut the car off.

I'm sure if your checking grounds the battery has already been tested. I had this same problem when my battery was going out. The car would crank fine but the voltage dipped low enough to reset the compter.

Same thing was happening on my 2001 GT a while back. It turned out that the postive cable wasn't as tight as it should be on the battery post. Just check all the power connections. Have you had the gauge cluster out recently? If so, just make sure the connectors in the back of the cluster are completely plugged in.
