Gear Break in period?

Scientific gear break in Period:

1. Listen for any odd noises.

2. No odd noises present, proceed to step 3.

3. Get on the freeway and blast up to 110mph driving it like you stole it.

Never failed me.

Yeah, if they aren't set up right or are bad. You should know within the first mile. :bang:

If a shop is doing the install, I definately would TEST them out close by the shop. Closer to walk back and easier to convince them they need to fix it for free and less of a tow truck bill to argue over. :D

You really should heat cycle them a couple times and give them some miles to wear in. There's no magic number, but you're better off playing it safe.

I like to drive it for a good 20 miles or so and then let it cool down overnight, do it again, and then drive normally for a while. I'd give it some time, and probably change the fluid after it has a few miles on it to make sure where are no metal filings in there.

I might be overcautious -- but it's really not that much extra work, and it will give you more time to check them out and make sure they're right.

your are a little overcautious but i don't blame you. when i got my gears installed, the guy who installed them took it out for a ride and stepped on it hard, he said everything was fine and i shouldn't worry about anything but misshifting :D
