Created the gear chart after a few people asked. If you'd like to add to the chart I'd appreciate it.

I should have included that... it's hard to get all the info you want to FIT on the screen...lol. I may replace the Driveshaft shortened column with the 65 MPH RPM.

I did include a column for the RPM @ 65. I am jealous of some of you guys.... I'd love to have that low RPM on the highway.

Tire, Transmission & Gear Combo, and 1/4 mile calculators in MS Excel

I made this using the standard functions for quarter mile estimates, outside tire diameters, and transmission and gear ratios to find final drive and cruising speed for any combonation you like. if you want to save the file just right click and save as or open it in IE as long as you have excel it will work fine. here is a screen shot:

all light grey fields are editable. the rest are locked to keep the integrity of the formulas. the formulas are posted at the top of each sheet.

I'd be a little cautious about posting anecdotal evidence/reviews like that. There are so many variables and gaugees/senders/gears/etc. that you may see huge variances. Just a thought, trying to be constructive.

Gear chart is coming along nicely guys...thanks for the input. Still need more 65 and 66 data. Jst6 if you have a place that I can link to that data I'd be happy do it on my site along with the caveats that Edbert posted.

its not data, its not subjective anecdotal information. It is cold hard mathematical CALCULATOR. It is good for any year, make, or model. All you need is the transmission ratios, gear ratio, and tire size.

Agreed! Although the simple math calculations are essentialy theortical (many variables cannot be inserted in Excel by a novice like me...air temperature and tire flex for example) I prefer the math over 'some guy said his does this' type of stuff. As mentioned the factory gauges are horribly inaccurate and there's variances even in the high dollar aftermarket ones.

I did a much simpler version of your chart years ago. Here it is.

Well, I wanted to add, but there was no choice for 5.67 rear gears. I have no idea what rpm 65mph is at but I might be able to tell you how many feet it took to get there, LOL!!!
