Gear install and the wonderful whine..advice please
Ok I got some work done at Laroccas in the winter while i was in school. I have the driven the car infrequently until now. I supplied all parts to them and they installed a new clutch rebuilt the trac lock and installed FMS 373's. Ever since they worked on my car when i go over speeds of 35mph i hear a loud whining/howling. Also when i put it into 5th gear it sounds like the are marbles jumping around in my trans. Like the gears are loose inside the trans itself and moving back and forth. Also everytime i let off the gas and back on it while it is in gear i hear a slack in teh drive like like the rear gears are accually physically loose and slamming back and forth. I had a friend that is a ford mechanic drive my car recently and he was like you have some serious issues with your rear and taht i should bring it back for them to look at it. Just recently i had time to bring it back to them to look at and they drive it and right away before they pulled the rear that said it was my trans that was the problem and not teh gears at all. They then pulled the rear to "check" the gears and they said there was no problem with them and that i could run slicks all day and not have to worry about the rear but its the trans that i got issues with. The thing is it did NONE of this until they did my clutch and trans. And i got a nice charge of 60$ for them to look at the work the previously did to my car. Can anyone give me some advice. Do you think they are jsut screwing me around and it really is my gears that they dont want to fix? I know i have some trans issues but it shifts great the second gear syncro is alittle slow before it gets warmed up but thats about it. The car has 96k on it with no rebuild and is still strong and in great shape. They didnt mention my ujoints so they are prob all good. Can anyone give their advice it would be awesome. Thanks
