Gear OIL

What gear oil would you guys recommend? I am going with a synthetic brand. Royal Purple, Mobil 1, Valvoline? let me know getting new gears installed tomorrow also it takes 3 quarts right?

Redline is good stuff. I highly recomend it. 3 quarts will be enough.

i would only consider royal purple or amsoil........2.5 it should hold......

When changing your diff/gear oil do you hafta use an additive?

i've run royalpurple and redline both.there both good lubricants.it should take around 2 quarts.some say they have the modifier already in it but i add some to be on the safe side.

When your talking about adding a full synthetic you don't need a stabilizer. As mentioned most rear end oils already have it in it.

I run Redline and it's good stuff. It already has the friction modifier in it. I bought a bottle of it just in case but decided not to put it in. It works perfectly with no chattering.

any of the name brand synthetics should be just great. just depends upon what you can get locally or quickly.

It depends on the oil. If it does not specifically say it does, it's a pretty safe bet it doesn't. Better to know ahead of time then be surprised later.

I just run the Ford stuff with friction modifier in mine. Ones just as good as the other.
