Gear oil

Ok so my 9" versailles is near ready to drop in and I need to pickup some gear oil. I have no idea what brand to get and how much and weights etc and wanted some input and recommendations.

I have an open 9" with 3.70 gears.

i like synthetic, if for no other reason it doesnt stink like petroleum based. amsoil is my choice, but royal purple is another good synth.... either way, 85-90 weight, 1 1/2 - 2 quarts.

With an open diff, you can put damn near anything in it. Grab the cheapest stuff off the shelf if you want, you're not going to hurt it.

I have an open 9" with 3.70 gears.

A 9-inch rear end will require 5 pints of gear oil. That would be all of two (32oz.) bottles and part of another bottle --so, you'll need to pick up three bottles of gear oil.

Pour the first two bottles in, then pour the 3rd bottle in until the oil just starts to run out the fill plug.
