Hey guys sorry for the noobish question.....

im about to get some gears installed and i need to know what oil to use with them. i checked AM and the oils they list for the 99-04 8.8's specify that they're for 05+ mustangs only. is this a typo or does it not matter?

thanks

Its all about the weight of the oil and I don't have that knowledge off hand. Either way go with amsoil

For a '99, XY80W-90-QL and if you have traction loc and drain it all the way you need to add 2oz of friction modifier.

Not sure about weight for your car but I used Royal Purple and haven't had any issues in about a year.

I believe it's 3.8 pints, which is just under 2 quarts (2 bottles).

So for an '03 would it be the regular oil with added friction modifier or would it be synthetic oil with no added friction modifier?

EDIT: did more searching.... 75W-140 (XY-75W140-QL) + 4oz. of friction modifier (XL-3) it is.
