I am going to be getting my 4.10's put on in a few weeks, and I had a question. I have read on different threads that people are always breaking an ABS sensor or something when taking attempting to take them off so they can slide out their axles. I also heard that these are not cheap to replace. I got under the car last night to spray them with some WD40 so I can hopefully get them off when the time comes, but I really don't know what I am looking for? Do I need to take the wheels off or are they to the inside? Pictures would be great, or if anyone can describe what I need to look for would be great.

Someone a while back posted about driling an existing hole in the back plate to a larger size which would allow you to get the c clips out but not have to mess with the sensors.

That is all I remember and don't know for sure if it will work but maybe the info can help you.

They are on the back of the axle housings, in the middle towards the edge, and they have 1 small bolt holding them on. I can't remember the size.

Here is a pic from the other side. They are pointing towards the ABS sensor. To remove it, you take it out from the other side.

If you do end up roaching them, salvage yards get like 50.00 for a set...I been there...
this is my 2nd set and 2 gears swaps later there damn near spent again... :damnit:
You lubed em up...50/50 shot I guess...they dont have to come out all the way...just creep em back til you can ge the C-clips out and leave em...something long and flat will help to creep em out...the plastic isn't very forgiving and seats in the hole like a mofo...
Good luck....

I got my salvage yard one's and just cut and spliced em in out back...If you get the entire set-up, they disconnect under the rear set...

The problem is that the hole they sit in corrodes just a bit. You will see the same type of corrosion on your back plate. It's just enought to really seize em in there tight.

In my case, I had to smash em out.

Somewhere I heard that you can use antiseize to hopefully prevent some of the corrosion when you reinstall.

PB blaster is your FRIEND!!!! I didn't brake mine, they came out like butter baby!!! I sprayed mine 24hrs before, again 2 hrs before, and again right at removal.....LIKE BUTTER!!!!!!

I might have just lucked out though. Take your time, be careful, and be patient. Penetrating oil is your friend. You might want to try some CLR if it's really bad. Should dissolve the rust. Soak those bad boys!
