I currently have the stock Goodyear ZR45 245/45/17 tires on my stang. I will be putting in my 3.73 gears soon and looking for new tires. I was short on money and was looking at it was either 265or 275/30/17since they were half the price of the same tire yet in 275/40/17. now with them being not quiet as big in diameter this will bring my top speed down and acceleration up? and ifso would that be a good idea or bad idea?

10mm is width is going to make microscopic differences in acceleration and top speed. You're not going to notice. It will be fine.

so you're doing this because of price difference..? With the smaller sidewall size the car will read faster than what it is going. So in essence you're driving slower than what the speedo reads. I'll tell you right now that 30mm sidewall length is going to look stupid.

Also the ride quality will be a little bit rougher some what with the smaller sidewall.

Using the 275/30-17 tire size will make your tire height approximately 2 inches shorter than stock and change your gear ratio about 8.5%. This will be the equivalent of a 4.05 gear or so. Also the 275/30-17 would require a wider rim than stock for it to perform properly.
