I have a 2000 Mustang GT Automatic and I was debating getting gears. I have to drive this car daily on the road at 70-75 mph so I was wondering if anyone who has gears can tell me what rpm's you run at this speed and also your opinions on what gears I should get.

I don't have an auto Josh I have a manual in my
96.First thing is don't fear the gear!If you are worried about rpm get 3.73's
if you do alot of highway driving.Use an rpm calculator and it will anwser your
question.Yes do a search these gear threads have been beaten to death.

Another vote for 4.10's. Wasn't long ago and I was in your shoes and they talked me into it too. Thank God they did because I would have spent all my time wondering about the 4.10s if I had bought the 3.73s. I have a 2004 MTX and still happy I went 4.10s!!

It is a daily driver and I did an online calculator thing and it showed that the rpms at 75 with 3.27s are 2250, with 3.73's 2560, with 4.10's 2820, and with 4.30's 3000. If I were to get gears the jump from 3.73's to 4.10's is too much but probobly worth it out of the hole. I know that it would wear out the engine if it were run at that mph with those gears for a half hour at a time twice a day five times a week. If I had another vehicle those 4.30's would already be in it and this discussion wouldn't be going on!
