Gears and Shift Points

After I get my A/C and Heater Core repaired this month, my next project is to change the 2.73 gears in my 91 5.0 with auto. Reading this forum i know most like the 3.73 gears, but i will probably put in 3.27 are 3.55. I do not race, just cruise and want just a little more punch.

My question is, presently the cars shifts in overdrive at about 42 mph under normal driving and somtimes with a big thud if you know what i mean. When i change the reareand, will i notice any drifference in normal driving and the shifts into overdrive? How difficult is it to change the drive gear for the speedo?

if you're going with a lower gear, under tha same "normal" drive, it will probably shift into OD a little before 42mph because it will accelerate quicker, especially if you went with 3.73s/3.55s. 3.27s you wouldn't notice it AS much
