ok heres the deal...i bought a wrecked 94 gt with 126,000 miles...everything seems to be stock on it....my friend seems to think that it has 3.73 gears or something in the rearend because he used to have a 95 gt and said this one feels different...how can i tell what gears i have...anybody know what rpm's i should be tackin at 55mph in 5th gear...please somebody help me out...thanks in advance you guys r alot of help

Jack the car up in the air and count the turns of the driveshaft when you turn the rear wheels one revolution.

Right at 3 turns and you are stock. 2.73 or 3.08s (maybe 3.27s - I think someone said they had those too)

If you are more like 4 turns, then 3.73s or 4.10s.

There should be a code on the diff. with numbers and a letter. The letter you should look for are as follows:

M=2.73's
Z=3.08's
E=3.27's

Pretty sure thats right. Someone can chime in if not.

sleep, that is true. however, how many stangs are running around with gears in them, but still having the oem tags and markings.

Paul is right. if one is careful, they can get pretty close (i.e. decipher 2.73's from 3.08, etc).

3.27's came in automatics (foxes).
