To all the Auto guys did you have to a tuner for your gear swap because of the auto tranny. This guy told me at the gas station today that it wasn't necessary but I was pretty sure it was but he was saying something about a cable that goes to your tach or something. I thought you had to get the tuner to correct the shift points. Let me know if i'm wrong or right.

That's the kind of information I would expect from some random guy at a gas station. :rlaugh: You're right, he's a complete moron.

You can get a tuner, have someone burn you a chip or reflash your ECU, or the best (yet most expensive) way: Getting the SCT tuning software. Those little hand-held tuners don't have crap on the SCT stuff, it's the real deal.

yea my friend has 4:10s in his 5 speed without a tuner. I was going to get mine but someone said that i would need a tuner i dont mind the extra miles :D

When I got my 4.10's I didn't install my SpeedCal right away. I got Lazy  :D

Anyways, I drove an known distance of 1 mile from a stop light to stop light and the trip odometer was thrown off by almost 4/10th's of a mile for each mile driven.

I have no clue how much the speedo was off, but I know it got worse the faster I went. I was driving on the freeway and my speedo showed that I was going 95 and I was getting passed by people left and right. I finally got my SpeedCall installed a few weeks later and it's dead nuts on. I even had a buddy of mine who is a cop clock me on radar and my speedo is right on the money. :nice:

Yes, a tuner is good.

I got a diablosport with the 4.10s in mind for the future.

Even if I didn't get 4.10s, I would still get the diablosport again if I were starting all over. It is a great tuner and allows me to do what I need with it. It's a little steep on the price (at least mine was) but overall I think it was worth it. I like all the little things I an do with it that are a convenience, if nothing else (traction control off, speed limiter off {like I'm going over 145 anyway!}).
